At the end of 2012, I intentionally took a break from several of the photography blog circles I was involved in. I needed a break from the time commitment and feeling that I had to have something worthy of posting. I did not intend for it to be a complete withdrawal from blogging but here it is over a year since my last post. As a mom of three kids and a hobbyist photographer, I struggle with the time commitment involved in shooting, editing, posting & keeping up with the blog. I wasn’t sure it was really worth having a blog since I am not in business, don’t do anything to drive SEO or people to my blog. But after putting it aside for the past year, I have remembered why I started the blog in the first place. It was primarily to have an avenue for communication with other people who are as passionate about photography as I am. That’s it. The blog is really just for me to connect with others and share my work. It gives me the opportunity to meet new people who will circle around me and cheer me on and I get to do the same for them. How great is that?
It is in that spirit that I have joined a new group called Where We Live. We will post once a month and will link to each other’s blogs in a circle. Because I have learned that my inner artist doesn’t do well with strict limitations I am allowing myself to interpret the theme pretty loosely. This month I am working on seeing the beauty in and around my home. It’s something I find difficult to do as I typically see the mess & clutter and areas that need to be fixed & improved. It takes a concentrated effort to see the beauty in the everyday.
Next up on the blog circle is Kelley Krohnert. You can find her Where We Live blog post here.
