10 on 10

I began photography when I had my first child for the sole purpose of documenting our life as a family.  I was frustrated by the delay in point and shoot cameras and not having control over exposure.  As I began to learn more about the technical side of photography, I started to look for perfection in the technical and lost the emotion and documentation.  Everything had to be perfect and as anyone with children knows, my house rarely is.  A group of my photographer friends were starting a 10 on 10 project and I decided to join in an effort to take me back to what I love to shoot – my family.  The basic idea is to pick 1 day each month and shoot 10 images of where you are that day.  I’ve decided to give myself a little leeway and will be choosing 10 images over a few days but the premise will be the same – to document where we are at this stage in our family.  Several of these are things I want to remember about where my kids are right now that I wouldn’t remember without these images.  After you have checked out my 10 on 10 – head over to Amy Horton Photography  to see her take on this project.

Leslie - The notes are precious. Makes me miss those days. My crew is growing up on me–16, 20, 22, and 25. Can’t hardly get them to let me take one picture, let alone several. I’ll live through yours. :)

Chesney - So fun Melinda. My house is NEVER perfect and I’ve learned to accept that now. I read a quote once that went something like this, “A perfectly kept house is the sign of a misspent life.” I have to remind myself of that about once a week! I think the sprinkler shot and the fishing pole are my favs.
