52 Fridays – Week 5 {On the Shelf}

As I thought through this week’s theme, I couldn’t help but think about the topic metaphorically.  I kept thinking about things held back or put away.  I kept thinking about all the images I have held back because they weren’t technically strong enough, color corrected well enough, generally good enough.  Images I’ve kept “on the shelf”.  Images that sit on my hard drive.  Images like this one:

I also took this line of thinking one step further to think about other things I am keeping “on the shelf”.  The things I am telling myself I’m too busy, tired, overwhelmed to pursue.  The dreams that whisper to my heart – the ones I am too afraid to acknowledge.  Set aside some time this week to think about it.  What’s on your shelf?

Next up on the circle is Kate Williams | Southwest Wyoming Lifestyle Portrait & Wedding Photographer.  You can check out her interpretation of this week’s theme here.

Sabrina - The same thought went through my head, but I was afraid that metaphorical shelf would just avalanche down on me if I started fiddling with it. A good reminder to go back to those things we “shelve” from time to time. Gorgeous image!!!

mistySetzler - Thank you for the lovely reminder, I get very caught up in having prints ordered for clients and not for myself of my own children because I don’t think they are worthy… I’ll have to plug in a few EHD’s now.

Kate - Love this shot, and love your words on encouragement. I never regret taking images of my babies…even if they are not ‘perfect.’ Often when I go back after some time I see the images in a new light.
