I know the whole purpose of the 10 on 10 is to encourage us to shoot more of the everyday with our family and kids and I will be working on making that a priority in 2012 (one of many resolutions…) but to be honest, my kids are really tired of my camera and the christmas card session about put them over the edge. I did have some time to shoot for myself this month and so I am featuring some of my favorite images from the past month. In November, my husband and I celebrated our 15 year anniversary. We went to San Francisco and Sonoma to celebrate – we were gone for 5 nights and it was the longest I have been away without kids since my oldest daughter was born 8 years ago. Here are some of my favorites:

This one was taken by the valet guy at the hotel. It’s blurry – probably due to camera shake. In the spirit of embracing imperfection, I’m going to let it go – I have very few pictures of me and my husband so I can’t really afford to be picky.

The following image was cropped to a square but for some reason the blog is stretching it vertically. I have this happen from time to time and I haven’t really figured out why – it usually happens on images that have been cropped. Anyone have any insight feel free to leave it in the comments section – you’ll see the same issue on the last square image. Again, letting it go… (really a reminder to myself – it’s hard for me).

These 2 were for an assignment for Tracy Clark’s composition class through Big Picture Classes. We are at week 11 of a 12 week class and I will be sad for it to end. It has been so great – she has posted video critique of all the images in the gallery for 12 weeks so you get critique on your own images as well as everyone else’s. I have learned so much and it has really changed how I shoot.

And this last one is my sweet nephew at Thanksgiving. Wish we lived closer so I could see him more often.

Next on the circle is Carey Pace. Check out her 10 on 10 here:

Leslie - These are great! Makes me want to be in San Fran! Not sure exactly what you mean with the square pics..they are square on my viewing. And I can totally relate to the ….letting go. I am so picky! Darn it…
Laurie - Congratulations Melinda on 15 years!! I’m jealous.. I would love to get away from the kids for 5 days! We honeymooned.. 20 years ago in the San Francisco, Carmel area.. loved it and I LOVE Ghirardelli Square .. and the Italian restaurants.
Beautiful 10 on 10 photo’s!!
jasmine - Melinda – so many of these are just amazing! Love that 1st panoramic image, the leaf – oh, perfect snap of fall, the olive tree, and your texture on the sky of the vineyard shot – it’s just right.
Chesney - What a great trip you must have had. I spent a week away from my babies this year too for the first time. I really like the use of texture in the picture of the vineyard. Many of these have a fine art feel to them. Great work.
Mary Schannen - Melinda – I actually like the vertical crop – would have never know it was supposed to be square! lol
Love these – and really like that last one and the one of you and your hubby!
