![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() “An artist requires the upkeep of creative solitude. An artist requires the healing of time alone.” Julia Cameron – The Artist’s Way As the mom of three, alone time for me is a rare commodity. Couple that with the perfectionist, list maker, task master personality and it is very difficult for me to put aside the to-do list to take time to create – just for me. This image doesn’t necessarily evoke the sense of being alone but for me it represents a willingness to put aside everything else in order to do one thing that fills my heart when I am alone.

Simply dreamy! Fabulous bokeh!!!!

Melinda I can totally relate to your words. This is such a lovely image. I’m happy that this week inspired you to create something that you may not have without the push of the 52 Week Project! It is why I continue on even though there are times when I feel like I’m scrambling for images.

Gorgeous image and that bokeh is just amazing! I struggle, too, with any alone time I have because I feel like there are so many things I should do that I almost get stuck and do nothing! Pursuing what’s on your heart is always the right choice!

Bokehlicious Girlfriend! Wait till the little ones go to Kinder – you’ll get sick of being alone – haha. (hence my two dogs!)

Beautiful. And well said!! Totally relatable!

LOVE this! What lens did you use for this shot? The bokeh is AMAZING!
March 3, 2012 - 10:45 pm
This is so true for me. I stay up late and get up early looking for that slice of alone… But still I crave quiet.
March 4, 2012 - 2:46 pm
oh my heavenly bokeh!! Beautiful post!

LOVE the Bokeh! Such a cute image, something that I would love to hang on my wall ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is the first week of a new blog circle I am participating in with a group from the Bloom Forum. This time around it’s Film Friday. One of the other photographer’s suggested that we talk about why we decided to participate in this project and for me it’s really related to just loving the look of film and wanting to learn more about it. It is different from digital and even though I can’t, for many reasons, imagine losing digital as a format, I am drawn to learning more about film. I took my first photography class ever using a film camera, but it was immediately after that class that I switched to digital. I never really learned how to use film and what I learned this first week is that I have A LOT to learn. I’ve picked my favorite to show and in keeping with letting go of perfect I will say that the majority on the roll were far from it. I am definitely spoiled with digital and having the option to grab several shots in a row when my subject moves quickly, my focus falls in the wrong place or just looks away from the camera 1 second before I press the shutter. I have many just missed shots so timing is definitely an issue I will be working on. Looking forward to learning more. Karyn Johnson is next on the circle. You can check out her experience with film here. I shot this with a Nikon F100 on Fuji ProH 400 rated at 200. Developed and scanned at Walgreens.

Great expression and lovely colours! I have a hard time focusing on the right place too (specially with dodgy eyesight!) so it’s something I’ve got to work on a lot.

February 27, 2012 - 11:43 am
So beautiful! Great colors. I feel the same way you do about film. I like the idea of experimenting with a different format. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here’s my sweet girl “pretending”. This year her class had to choose a historical figure for a class project. They had to dress up and give a speech as their character. She chose, can you guess? Jacquelyn Kennedy Onassis.
