52 Fridays – Week 39 {Written in Black and White}

One of my favorite things about Squam was finding little inspiring messages hidden along the trails.  This one was taken with my iPhone.

Next up on the circle is Kate Williams | Southwest Wyoming Lifestyle Portrait & Wedding Photographer. You can check out her interpretation of this week’s theme here.

52 Fridays – Week 38 {Glamour}

When I first came across the idea of “Glamping” (Glam + Camping = Glamping), I couldn’t think of a better way to describe Squam Art Workshop.  It is definitely glamour camping.  I’ve never been so pampered on a campout. Who am I fooling?  It’s been years since I’ve even been on a campout!  So Squam is exactly my kind of camping – comfy beds with good linens, unlimited hot water in the indoor shower, great food, cozy cabins with fireplaces.  Everything a girl could want on a camping trip.  Here are some of my favorite images from the week:

My cabin and cabin mates:

The beautiful view from our dock:

The end result of Helene’s cupcakes class:

The Wish Tree:

Alena’s Awaken the Muse painting class (check out her online class here):

I loved the affirmations on one of my classmate’s brushes – how sweet are these?

And other random Squam goodness…

The beauty of Squam truly lies in the women, both those that attend and those who work tirelessly to put the whole thing together.  It is a community of creative women coming together to support and encourage one another.   It was truly magical – everything I expected it to be and difficult to put into words (at least for me).  For those looking for a little more information, my friend and cabinmate Michelle has written a beautiful summary of her time at Squam. You can check it out here.

As I was working to tie this week’s theme into my experience at Squam, I looked up the actual definition of the word Glamour.  One of the definitions listed took me by surprise.  It defined Glamour as “magic” or “enchantment”.  Based on that definition, there is nothing more glamourous than Squam.

Next up on the circle is Cassie Davidson. You can check out her interpretation of this week’s theme here.
